Usually, tourist comes to Macau for a day tour, their port of entry would be Hongkong, but for our case it was the other way around. Because at the time we were booking our ticket, there was some sort of commotion going on in Hongkong. It was when we were departing, we realized Hong Kong then was safe to visit. So, we revised our itinerary and visit Hong Kong for a day tour.

Things to remember while in Macau:
  • Always carry your passport with you wherever you go.
  • Bring an eco-bag when shopping in Macau, particularly in groceries and convenience stores, because the government of Macau has signed an order for the charge for a single-use plastic bag in retail locations and it cost one pataca (MOP1-Php 6.02)
  • Most of the restaurants in Macau does not have free drinking water. So, make sure to bring your bottled water wherever you may go. Bottled water (8oz-12oz) in restaurants cost around MOP7 to 10 Php 42.00 to 60.00.

Must try in Macau:
  • Macau Portuguese Egg Tart
  • Original Castella Cake
  • Pork Chop Bun
  • Curry Fish Balls
  • Almond cookies
  • Bubble Tea
  • Meat Jerky

Travelling doesn’t have to be as expensive as you are imagining. If you can afford your life now, you can likely afford to travel. Just make sure to DO YOUR RESEARCH. Having an idea of how much things will cost you before visiting a place or a country is a MUST. Always, do your research beforehand; have an idea of how much their transportation will cost you, search for Anything FREE to do in the country you’re visiting to, including FREE admission for museum, tourist attractions and FREE WIFI.

Macau Adventure and a Day Trip to Hongkong | Bella Girls

🌺Filmed before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Life was meant for good friends and great adventures. A year ago, today me and my colleague went to Macau and Hongkong for a holiday! I remember this was the time when corona virus just spread out in China and we honestly had no idea. No wonder why 95% of the passenger going back to Manila was full of Chinese national. We were so tired the whole trip but we really enjoy it nonetheless. :) This trip is definitely for keeps! ♥

How to make "Lidgid" nga Camote | Suman na Camote

"Lidgid" nga camote is of my favorite Filipino rice cake (kakanin) in the province (Leyte). My childhood ultimate snack or dessert. Lidgid nga camote looks like suman because it is also wrapped but instead of sticky rice, we use root croops like camote or sweet potato in English. Lidgid is comprised of grated camote, brown sugar, and coconut milk. Wrapped individually using banana leaves.

Ingredients:
• Camote (Sweet Potato)
• Brown Sugar
• Lubi/Niyog (Coconut Milk)
• Dahon sa Saging (Banana Leaves)

Instructions:
1. With a damp cloth, gently wipe surfaces of banana leaves to remove any dirt or grit.
2. Cut the banana leaves for wrapping into pieces.
3. Quickly pass the banana leaves over high flames to help soften and make easier to fold. (E-haob ang dahon).
4. Wash the camote, peel (balatan) and grate (kudkurin) it.

For the filling (palunok/palaman) process:
You need sugar, grated camote and coconut milk.
• Boil first the coconut milk, stir until thickens.
• Then add the sugar in the pan. Gently stir until the sugar dissolve.
• And lastly add the grated camote.
Keep on stirring until it cooked and becomes brown and sticky.

For the wrapping process:
• You scoop 1 tablespoon of grated camote and flattened it on a banana leaves and put the fillings and fold it. Make sure to secure the top and bottom part of the leaf by folding it. (Watch my video for better understanding of the technique ) For the final step.

• Layer it all in the caldron (kaldero) or steamer.

• Boil about 8 to 10 cups of water or coconut milk, then steam for 30 to 35 minutes or until it cook.

Remove from the steamer and let it cool down.

By this time your lidgid is now ready to serve, share and enjoy!

Ps: Lidgid might last 2 to 3 days if fridge, if not it will only last for a day.

5 THINGS TRAVELLING ALONE TEACHES YOU | The Travelling Hopia

5 Things Travelling Alone Teaches You

Travelling alone can be intimidating and the same time exciting. Here are 5 Things you can learn if you take the chance of travelling solo.

You will get to know yourself better

Traveling by myself has taught me a lot of things. You will discover the importance of following and listening to your own heart. When you travel alone you learn to push yourself in every situation, to meet people, to try new things and to see what you really love without the influence of others.

It will get you out of your comfort zone.

Traveling alone, getting out of your comfort zone is a challenge in different ways that will test your patience. But by putting yourself out there, you will be able to explore this beautiful planet, meet new friends, enjoy a diverse culture and way of life and discover new things and exciting places.

It will teach you independence

Being on your own, will it teach you to trust yourself. It will challenge your patience and ability to cope with obstacles and problems. But, travelling solo will make you a stronger person and help you grow as a traveler and human being. It will help you gain valuable skills and that will turn you into a more confident person.

You’ll find out that getting lost is amazing

Finding yourself lost in a foreign country or strange city can be scary and its okay, it’s normal to feel that way. it is scary, at first. But, instead of looking at it in a bad way. Try to see it as an opportunity to test your problem-solving skills. As long as you’re not on a strict schedule, getting lost can often lead to discovering places and unexpected adventure. I don’t know about you, but when I return from traveling, it’s often the stories of getting lost I find myself retelling the most to my friends and family.

You’ll learn to love yourself

This could be one of the most important things you get to learn about yourself when traveling solo. It will remind you to re-discover yourself, to experiment with your life, to explore what’s in you and understanding who you are. Solo travel can often teach you so many things about both yourself and how you interact with the world around you. More importantly, it can remind you that there is so much more to your complex beautiful self than what meets the eye. When you allow for an opportunity to be authentically yourself, it comes with the realization that deep within, there’s greatness.

There you have it. I hope you find this blog very helpful. Whatever you decide, don’t let other people’s sentiments of what traveling solo looks like hold you back. The idea of traveling alone can be daunting, I know. But it is such a rewarding and enriching experience that I challenge you to overcome the fear and give it a try. So, go your own way, and see what lessons you can learn.

AUTUMN IN JAPAN | MT. FUJI | KAWAGOE SAITAMA | FUJIYOSHIDA | CHUREITO PA...

I always wanted to travel alone, never did I know that my first ever solo travel adventure would be travelling miles away from my country, the Philippines. Japan have always had a special place in my heart. This is my first international country to visit. Amazing people, rich in history and culture. I was a bit nervous embarking this journey because the last time I was in Japan, I could hardly managed to find my way home. And the thought of me travelling alone on this foreign land is kind of scary and exciting at the same time. I know everything will be fine, as long as I have my Wi-Fi with me, I can speak basic Japanese and I have someone in Tokyo to call on to when I need help.

During this trip. I’ve learned a lot of things. I have learned to trust myself in navigating unfamiliar places. I have learned to embrace the uncertainly of every decision I made, which leads me to more amazing finds and great places that never in my wildest dream, I imagined I would be in.

Japan made me realized that I am meant to be a SOLO TRAVELLER. Traveling alone is a gift. (THANKS GOD!) You will be presented with daily opportunities to learn and grow, and you will become closer to yourself as a result. No matter where you go and what you do, travelling solo will change you.
